Metering Technology

Alfons Haar PreciCONTROL metering systems utilise an intrinsically safe bus technology with distributed "nodes" to control the metering operation.

While looking decidedly high tech, the operator interface is incredibly user friendly and is the culmination of over 60 years of fuelling technology development.

Tech savvy users can use the available open interface EN standardised FTL (Fuel Truck Link) for two-way communication with other onboard fuel management, data capture and computer systems.

FTL is a published standard, providing an open gateway into our system, embracing other onboard technologies and enabling fuel transport companies to use the data onboard our PreciCONTROL systems to streamline their back office processes.

PreciCONTROL systems also offer integrated Sealed Parcel Delivery System, Cross Over Protection and Retained Product Monitoring for a total secure end to end delivery solution.

PreciMA PD METERS are designed for applications requiring super accurate metering of petroleum products, and are "wet" systems dedicated to one product per meter.

Alfons Haaar PreciMA based delivery systems use proven Alfons Haar vane type positive displacement meter technology with outstanding low meter slippage for excellent measurement stability over a wide measurement range, gas bubble detectors for a measurement reliability and two-stage flow rate controlling shut-off valves enabling system depending flow ranges from 50 l/min to 1,000 l/min.

Nominal system size starting at DN 50 (2”) upwards with nominal pressure rating PN 10 (10 bar).

Typical PreciMA metering applications:

  • Pumped tank truck discharge
  • Wet hose and dry hose delivery
  • Metering of Gasoline’s, Diesel Fuels, Heating Fuels (Kero, Gas Oil), Jet Fuel (Jet, Kerosene, AVGAS) and system dependent also higher viscosities such as Lubes

Examples of optional system features:

  • Mechanical or electronic meter head, typical used with PreciCONTROL
  • Product volume temperature compensation
  • Additive injection pump PreciMIX which is controlled by a PreciCONTROL Xmaster or by mechanical only injection
  • Manual or automated compartment manifolds
  • Interlock management

PreciPURE and PreciTURBO TURBINE METERS and are considered "dry" systems, meaning the complete meter system (except delivery hoses) can be dried at the end of a delivery.

This allows product changeover, so a different product can subsequently be delivered using the same manifold, meter and bulk delivery valve outlet (delivery via hosereels is dedicated to petrol or diesel and isnt dried out or changed). Because the system uses a single pump and meter, the system is extremely compact and lightweight.

This is an ideal system for a satellite depot where one fuel tanker needs to complete a variety of deliveries from small farm tanks which may want both petrol and diesel, to large bulk diesel tanks in larger industrial or unmanned truckstop applications, and service stations where gravity measurement is needed. The same tanker might then head to the nearest major fuel terminal several hours away, and doesnt want a bulky heavy metering system which will reduce payload.

PreciPURE really is the all rounder.

PreciGAS, PreciCRYO and PreciBLUE venturi meters. Known globally for its incredible accuracy and no moving parts, venturi meters are the perfect technology for our LPG, Cryogenic gasses and Adblue metering solutions. Controlled by the Alfons Haar Xmaster interface, this forms the basis of an accurate, automated and reliable metering solution.

Systems · Product Detail

The detail behind the portfolio.

Application, advantages, limitations and a full summary for each major metering-system group.

Positive Displacement · Single-Fuel Wet

PreciMA490

50–500 LPM

The smallest in the range — pumped metered deliveries via hosereels for onsite refuellers and smaller drops on larger systems.

Application: Onsite refuellers and “milk run”-style tankers, or a smaller meter (such as petrol) on a larger system. Petrol/diesel on small rigid onsite refuellers.

Benefits

› Preset control on the delivery
› Runs as a single meter, or twin with one XM4 and a PMA490/800/1000
› Works with automated manifold and tank gauging

Limitations: Installation needs attention to product fall. Should be fed from a manifold for best performance. Consider the PMA500 if a manifold is not available.

Summary

• Single-fuel “wet” system, smallest in the range
• Flow range 50–500 LPM, pumped metering only (no gravity)
• Single or dual hosereel outlets, both with preset control
• Integrated bubble detector, checkvalves, actuated valve outlets
• Integrated tank gauging & automated manifold control

Positive Displacement · Single-Fuel Wet

PreciMA800

60–800 LPM

A high-flow single-fuel meter for big regional distributors filling bulk tanks — with controlled outlets, automated manifold and integrated tank gauging.
